Rooftop solar project : Update from Minister

According to Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, the survey for identifying government buildings and religious institutes suitable for rooftop solar panel installation will be finalized by April 15th. The project is being carried out with the help of a $100 million credit line from the Government of India, and a recent meeting was held to review its progress.

Minister Wijesekera disclosed that 90% of the necessary surveys have been completed, identifying buildings such as national schools, universities, technical colleges, teaching schools, armed forces buildings, police stations, religious institutes of all faiths that have no income, and other government buildings. The Exim Bank of India is overseeing the tender and procurement process, while the completion of surveys is targeted for April 15th, 2023.
